Dear Sir or Madame:

It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I am writing to endorse the position as defender of the human right in my country Honduras of Sandra Isabel Barahona Morales e Itsmannia Pineda Platero. For the last 15 years in Honduras, I have been an defender of the human right in governmental position, like a Monitoring of Drugs in the CICAD-OAS, as well as Secretary of the Fundacion Alfredo Landaverde. I hope my perspective will be helpful to you as you evaluate this woman and her causes.
My first contact with Sandra was during the year of 2002,when she organized a movemnet with a oragnization called Xibalba outside of Tegucigalpa for teenagers interested in quit of gangs and streets fights . During the course of the movement, Sandra presented material with such ease and humor that she set the tone for the entire organization.
With participants from a variety of backgrounds in Xibalba, there was often conflict, and occasionally confrontation. While setting limits, Sandra managed to respond consistently with respect and compassion. The experience had a profound effect on the participants and, because of Sandra's exceptional skill and professionalism, she has been invited by many schools to offer similar management workshops
During the time I have known Sandra, she has distinguished herself as a conscientious and energetic pioneer in the fields of leadership and management of gangs and children of the streets. I have enormous respect for her teaching and leadership skills, and have been pleased to work with her on many occasions.
Notwithstanding, the cause that Sandra took by the force and the fight to help other in their individual rights was a stone in the shoes the leaders of the gangs, She left from the country in 2003, seraching for a place where dwelt in security, actually she serves in the penitentiary field in San Diego, California, if Sandra back to Honduras the death is waiting for her.
I urge you to carefully consider Sandra Isabel who is, quite simply, the most remarkable young leader I have ever met.

Sincerely,

Elvin Nahum Ortiz Maldonado
